Designed in Saudi is a strategic initiative led by the Architecture and Design Commission, This national initiative is dedicated to the development of the industrial design sector in the Kingdom by empowering local designers and fostering an environment that supports their growth and capabilities with the aim of positioning the Kingdom as a global design destination.

Designed in Saudi Seal

This seal serves as a mark of quality and control granted to products that meet specific criteria through undergoing a series of evaluations to ensure each product’s authenticity and adherence to human-centric values from the concept to the final product. the seal is granted by a committee comprising both local and international industrial design experts led by Dr. Sumayah Al-Solaiman, CEO of the Architecture and Design Commission.

    The entity responsible for submitting applications:

    By submitting the application, the company representatives agree to abide by these terms and conditions and provide proof of their personal eligibility to bind the commercial entity to these terms and conditions and that they have the necessary authorization from the company for this purpose. They also agree that it is solely their responsibility to ensure that the company is eligible for the “Designed in Saudi” Seal.

    Approved application channels:

  • The channel through which applications are accepted is the official website of the “Designed in Saudi” initiative; The “Designed in Saudi” seal management has the absolute right to evaluate these applications and approve or reject them according to the specified standards.
  • Illegibility Criteria:

  • The company must demonstrate transparent and responsible business practices and be registered in Saudi Arabia.
  • The product must be designed in Saudi Arabia
  • The product must have commercial viability and potential.
  • The design of the product must prioritize the needs of the end-users, adopting a human-centric approach.
  • The product should tell a story and express the unique perspective and inspiration of the designer.
  • Intellectual property for product design:

    The applicant company agrees to submit proof of its ownership of the product’s intellectual property rights and that the “Designed in Saudi” initiative has the right to verify this.

    Main requirements:

    Requirements for obtaining the seal include the following:

  • Approval of the “Designed in Saudi” program for a new design or renewal of a seal for a previous design.
  • Right to reject the application:

  • Upon its absolute discretion, the “Designed in Saudi” initiative has the right to accept or reject all applications.
  • Conditional acceptance:

  • The “Designed in Saudi” initiative has the right to approve applicants for the seal conditionally, provided that specific requirements are met. These requirements might include the submission of certain undertakings or other relevant documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

    Can non-Saudis apply for the "Designed in Saudi" seal?

    Non-Saudis can apply for the "Designed in Saudi" seal as long as the design activity of the product occurred in Saudi Arabia.

    I am a Saudi designer living abroad; can I apply for the seal for my products?

  • Saudi designers residing outside the Kingdom can also apply for the "Designed in Saudi" seal.
  • Can design students or freelance designers apply for the seal?

  • The application is open to licensed companies and institutions operating within the Kingdom. Applicants will be required to provide a copy of their commercial registration certificate.
  • Should the product be manufactured in Saudi Arabia?

    The "Designed in Saudi" seal is awarded to products designed locally and does not require local manufacturing or production.

    Can I include more than one product in a single application?

  • The seal is awarded to either a single product or a family of products that share common characteristics. It is not possible to submit multiple different products in a single application.
  • Do I need a certificate from the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property for my product?

  • While it is advisable to register your product with the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property before applying, in all cases, the applicant must declare ownership of all intellectual property rights for the product.
  • Can the application be submitted for the following product categories: fashion design, jewelry design, shoe design?

  • Fashion design and apparel products are not eligible for the "Designed in Saudi" seal.
  • Can I apply for the seal based solely on conceptual design and 3D drawings of the product without physical execution?

  • Product execution is required, as submitted products undergo several stages, including a physical product evaluation. 3D drawings alone are insufficient.
  • Should the design reflect the heritage and culture of the Kingdom through the use of materials, ornaments, and colors?

  • The product should tell a story, whether inspired by Saudi heritage and culture or another source of inspiration that reflects the designer's vision.
  • If my application is preliminarily approved, who is responsible for the shipping costs of the physical product for evaluation by the "Designed in Saudi" Seal Committee?

  • The applicant is responsible for covering the shipping costs of the product to and from the designated "Designed in Saudi" location.
