Overview of the Competition



The Competition aims to enhance education and innovation in the museum sector by creating opportunities in new and innovative fields of technology and immersive learning techniques.



The competition includes a training program that enables participants to create interactive educational experiences using virtual reality technology. These experiences will be exhibited in museums as creative local products representing one of the Kingdom's cultures and enriching its museum experiences.

University students and graduates
in IT, Computer Science, Digital Design, and Fine Arts seek to enhance their skills and gain practical experience in museums.

Programmers and developers
experienced in creating applications or gamers who are eager to learn new VR development skills for use in museums.

Culture enthusiasts with a technological background
who want to learn new skills and explore VR technologies and applications in museums.

Artists and designers
interested in combining technology and art to create innovative experiences in museums.

Storytellers
who possess the skill and ability to creatively recount the tales of their city or region, its history, and its civilization.

Selection criteria

The applicant must have visited national or international museums before or participated in museum programs and workshops.

The applicant must have at least a month of experience in using virtual reality technologies, 3D design, or programming.

Participants should submit a project or innovative idea that reflects their region using VR technologies.

Qualifications

Computer skills proficiency.

Basic skills in 3D design.

An intermediate level of proficiency in English is essential.

Details of the workshops

Duration: 4 months- starting from 11 January - 2025, to 12 June - 2025 (Note that it will be stopped during the month of Ramadan)

Days: 3 days a week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday- Saturday: (Open lab)

Time: 5 - 8 PM

Project phases

  • Candidate Selection
    Maximum of 50 trainees are selected from each region and formed into working groups to participate in the training program.
  • Training and Development
    Participants receive training in VR techniques for museums.
  • Experiences Development
    Participants develop their interactive experiences for museums using VR technologies acquired through the program.
  • Evaluation and Judging
    A judging committee evaluates the developed interactive experiences and the winning group from each region is selected.
  • Finals and Award Ceremony
    Winners compete in a final competition to determine the best experiences, with a final ceremony held in each training region to honor the winners.

Terms and Conditions

  • By participating in the VR competition for museums organized by the Museums Commission at the Ministry of Culture, you agree to commit to daily attendance throughout the training period.

  • The participant applying for the competition must be a resident of the training region.

  • Participants must be at least 19 years old.

  • The participant pledges to maintain and safeguard all equipment and educational materials provided, and to return them upon completion of the program duration.

  • The sponsor has the right to verify the intellectual property of any idea submitted by participants.

  • The sponsor reserves the right to make the final decision on any aspects related to the competition.

  • The sponsor reserves the right to use and display all submissions for promotional and marketing purposes without financial compensation to the participants.

  • The Museums Commission reserves the right to amend and modify these terms and conditions at any time, with participants notified of any updates.
