The Ministry of Culture ,Backyard, ATHR and the Aimes is pleased to collaborate with digital artists for the realisation of the the frst groundbreaking Augmented Reality group exhibition curated by Federico Montagna which will be held in 3 main locations in Saudi Arabia.
The collaboration will include International artists working with digital mediums, who are mid-career or established, in particular, to artists already familiar with AR (Augmented Reality) technology.
The exhibition has a total duration of about a year and develops between 3 main locations: Jeddah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province.
Saudi Arabia is a country which, much more than others, has a strong connotation as far as its natural landscape is concerned. The desert remains one of the preponderant sceneries that occupies a large part of the territory which, even though now thanks to the progress of man the recovery of water and natural sources is no longer a problem, it is clear that its land historically has never been easy to adapt to the cultivation or the flowering of a large vegetation over the years.
At the end, the artists are invited to imagine new ecosystems of flora and fauna, giving back to the viewer an extra-ordinary vision of what nature will look like in the future. Through their intervention, therefore, they can create a nature which blooms exactly on the wall that divides real-digital, possibility-dream.
Each of the 10 artists is participating by submitting two project concepts related to the curatorial narrative of the exhibition. The group of artists consist of 6 Saudi artists together with 4 international ones, to realize a virtual exhibition of their works in 20 strategic locations spread around the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam (Al Khobar and Dhahran metropolitan area) that is featured through the smartphone and WebAR.
