About the Initiative

While the current social distancing measures inevitably present difficulties to us all, this historic moment provides an unprecedented opportunity to pause and reflect, allowing us to seek inspiration from our collective and individual experiences and express them through art. As part of the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to supporting artists during this time, and in line with protective measures implemented as part of the Kingdom’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Culture invites artists to creatively express their experiences by submitting artwork to be considered for inclusion in the second edition of “From Within” contemporary art exhibition. The Ministry of Culture is inviting artists to look beyond traditional methods and to use innovative techniques to produce artwork from within their homes.

About 'From Within' exhibition

Following the successful first edition of “From Within” held by the Ministry of Culture at Jax 01, Ad-Diriyah in December 2019, the second edition aims to encourage artistic expression during the pandemic. The pandemic has affected us all, with no sector untouched. However, the visual arts sector has been particularly affected by social distancing measures. Through this exhibition, the Ministry of Culture is supporting creativity in adversity by providing opportunities for artists to continue to produce and exhibit their artwork.
